Use Case: Corrections Institutions

Corrections Institutions

When you're incarcerated, you don't get to go to the funeral... you don't get to say an in-person goodbye. Grieving is especially hard when you're behind bars. We can help you minister to those in corrections facilities.

With our free eight-session video-based grief support curriculum, you can implement grief support groups in corrections facilities. Our videos, workbook, and facilitator discussion guides are free. So if you have support from the facility leadership/government authorities, the ability to play videos (in either streaming or DVD format), a place for grief groups to meet, and someone like a chaplain to facilitate the groups, you're all set!

What's the catch?

There isn't one.

We created this program at our church (NewSpring church in Wichita, KS) and it's our goal for this program to be used far and wide to support those experiencing the pain of grief. It is completely free. Our only requirement is that you not edit our materials, including the video sessions or workbook.

How do you get started?

Just click the link in the top menu to contact us about hosting. We'll get you set up with an account on our site where you have access to all the materials you'll need or you can just share the link: throughthisvalley.com with the population you serve, and they can stream the videos from there.

If you have any questions about how the program works, or suggestions about how corrections facilities might use our program, please contact Wendy Hoover at wendy.hoover@newspring.org. We know that many facilities have specific guidelines about what they can and can't use and how they implement different programs. We're happy to help if we can.
